Austin Creative Reuse fall fundraiser
Austin Creative Reuse is my first stop when buying art supplies. I couldn’t be more proud than Austin has one. November 1st they will be starting up their own online gallery of art, fashion and home goods made from reused materials and I am excited to have a few pieces for sale in their fundraiser.
About Austin Creative Reuse Center:
Reuse centers are more efficient than recycling, because it requires no industrial processing. Reuse also gives us a tangible and inventive way to engage in a sustainable lifestyle.
For the past thirty years, more than 25 creative reuse centers have been thriving in the US. Many of these organizations report diverting 60,000 lbs from landfill each year while also being economically viable organizations.
Through tinkering and creative exploration, reuse inspires the engineers, designers, architects, and artists of tomorrow.
Reuse centers create affordable and accessible opportunities.
fundraiser for CTF
#postmarked is an online exhibition and fundraiser by the Penland x Crafting The Future (CTF) crew for @crafting_the_future . The crew received 400 4''x6'' works of art through the mail and have documented them for you to see. The show "opens" at 12:00am (est) on Friday, October 23rd, and will remain up until November 23rd.
The goal is to get 400 donations at $30 each, one for every postcard we received. As a thank you for your donation of just $30, CTF will send you a randomly selected work from the show. All proceeds will go towards an endowment at @penlandschool for a CTF scholarship for BIPOC artists. This is huge because it means that every year, for ever and ever, there will already be a CTF scholarship in place that is completely paid for.
Pandemic Pin Swap
Carolina Sephra Reyes is the organizer for this first edition of @pandemicpinswap. Artists across all media sign up to make a pin/brooch that is then swapped with another artist’s creation.

battle of the rings
Battle of the Rings, or the RING SMACKDOWN as we so fondly call it, is a head-to-head, tournament style, ring competition and exhibition. Narrowed down by jury from 128 entries submitted from across the country and abroad, to just 64 exceptional rings, these fantastic objects are not only beautiful and fun but many are works of art. With themes including nesting and protection they are snapshots of this unprecedented time in history. Collectively they represent a wide range of materials, style, technique and personality. Just to be clear, for the most part these are not every-day rings, they are statement rings and lucky for you they are ALL FOR SALE!
VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITES!
The rings have been drafted into teams: The Shanks and the Mandrels! and paired into matches that will go head-to-head in competition beginning June 1st for a top prize of $500. All voting happens online, at the Danaca Design Studio Instagram account, @danacadesignstudio throughout the month of June, EVERY morning at 9:00am (Pacific time).
